How much do your food tours cost?
Our standard tours cost £75 per person for 3.5 hours, including tastings at four or five independent stops - by the end you will have eaten the equivalent of a hearty lunch. Private hen-do tours are tailored to your group and quoted on enquiry: call 07960 240802 or email info@yorkshireappetite.com.
Can we book a private food tour for our hen do?
Absolutely - we love hosting hen dos. Tell us the bride's favourite foods, which city you fancy and how many hens are coming, and we will cater everything to her tastes; the tour can include alcohol or be completely alcohol-free, and we can create goodie bags for all the hens to take home. Private tours take up to 20 people (larger groups of 12 to 48 on our group tours).
Which towns and cities do the tours run in?
We run guided food tours in York (including our traditional Taste of Yorkshire tour), Harrogate, Leeds (an Indian food tour from Delhi to Kerala), Ripon and Whitby. Each tour is led by a local guide who introduces the independent eateries and the stories behind the dishes - York tours meet outside York Art Gallery or York Minster; Harrogate at Starling Bar Café on Oxford Street.
How long do tours last and how many can come?
Standard tours run 3.5 hours with four to 12 guests, meeting around 11.30am or 12 noon depending on the tour, on selected days Wednesday to Sunday. Our minimum tour size is four; groups below four can pay a £50 supplement for a private experience (refunded if others book on). Tours run all year except over Christmas and New Year.
What should we expect on the day?
A tasting plate at each stop across four or five independent venues - no chains - with your guide sharing local history between courses. We recommend a light breakfast, comfortable shoes and a serious appetite. Flag dietary requirements when you book so every stop works for everyone.
Can we buy the tour as a gift?
Yes - gift vouchers are available and the recipient picks the date and destination themselves. Vouchers cannot be claimed through our booking provider, so call 07960 240802 or email info@yorkshireappetite.com to book with a voucher.
