What is the Velocity zip line experience at Penrhyn Quarry?
Velocity is the fastest zip line in the world, here at Penrhyn Quarry in Bethesda. You fly head-first for just over a mile at speeds of up to and over 100mph, high above the slate quarry. There are two zip zones: a smaller zip first to find your nerve, then the famous big zip.
Can our hen group fly together?
Yes. Each zip zone has 4 parallel lines, so up to four of you can fly side by side at the same time rather than one at a time. Groups are kitted up together (up to 24 people in a kit-up group), with a full safety briefing and instructors leading every stage.
How long does the experience last?
Around 2 hours from start to finish. That includes check-in, kitting up and your safety briefing, the little zip, the truck ride up the 3km quarry track to the top of the mountain, the big zip itself, and de-kitting afterwards. Please arrive 30 minutes before your start time to check in.
How much does it cost?
Velocity is currently from £99 per person, plus a £5 booking fee. On-site parking charges apply, although parking is free at select locations when you pre-book two or more adventures. We are a cashless site, so please bring card or mobile payment for anything you buy on the day.
Are there any restrictions we should know about?
Yes. There is a minimum height of 1.2m and a maximum weight of 130kg. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over, with one participating adult required for every three children under 18. Please check our full adventure and medical restrictions before booking, and wear warm, comfortable clothing suitable for the weather, with walking boots or trainers.
Do we need to book in advance?
Yes, we strongly recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment, especially for weekend hen parties. If you turn up without a booking we will do our best to fit you in, but we cannot guarantee availability. You can book online, or call us on 01248 601444 if you would prefer to book by phone.

Had a great time at Zip World. The staff is very nice and helpful, if you have any questions about bookings or the about the rides they explain everything. The place is very easy to find having signs showing the way from the main road. The car park is big. The place gets busy especially in nice and warm weather. Very nice place and experience for families, dog friendly. Ziplines for children and off course the fast one above the quarry. After you check in you'll be directed to the waiting room, information will be given about the ride, you suit up, do a mini zip to feel the experience then you're taken up to the top with one of the 4x4 trucks. The staff explains what to do and expect. The atmosphere is very nice and smilling staff. You can leave your things in lockers at reception or small things like car keys or vallet can be safely stored in the pocket of your zip line suite. The price could be a little lower or have the parking free of charge. The restaurant is very nice and big, good food choice and deserts, it's dog friendly, you can eat inside or on the small terrace with view over the quarry and the zipline.

Wow! I would really recommend booking a slot in advance. We had to wait over 2 hours, which was fine, but then the experience it's self is alot of waiting. We need to return again, & will book in advance next time. Plenty of parking, seating areas, dogs allowed. We ate in the restaurant, decent food! Was piping hot, good value for money. For the cost of the Velocity, it would be amazing if a medal was at least included. Its £99 for the zipline. This is mini zipline, ride up, & the main attraction zipline. A medal in the shop is £6.50.. I think that would being included & presented at the end would just be 🤌🏼 The go pro footage to purchase is £20. Is that steep for a 50second video?🤔 Was great too be able to sit in the restaurant & watch it on the big screen, but need more screens to view... a continuous stream, oppose too ads of the zipworld, or put them continuous on a different screen.

Absolute fantastic day here doing the Zipline. Staff are all great and very hard working. Place is spotlessly clean. Food is great and good value for money. Would come again and already recommended lots of family and friends 10/10 thanks guys 👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻👌🏻😁😁😁
