Pool Hen House | Gwynedd | Sleeps 16

The space

Set directly on Marine Parade in Barmouth, The Belmont Barmouth brings a real sense of occasion to a hen weekend. This striking Art Deco seafront townhouse gives your group front-row views of the coast, golden sand just across the road, and plenty of room to gather, celebrate and make the weekend feel special without needing to squeeze into one small living room.

Sleeping up to 16 guests across 9 bedrooms, it works beautifully for hens who want a house with both sociable spaces and quieter corners. You can start the day with coffee overlooking the sea, head out for a beach walk or an activity in Gwynedd, then come back for drinks, games and a celebratory dinner around one big table. The layout is ideal for mixed friendship groups too, with flexible sleeping options and several bathrooms helping everyone get ready without the usual morning queue.

The style is a huge part of the appeal. Expect period character, elegant proportions and a polished coastal feel, balanced with the practical touches a hen group needs: a fully equipped kitchen, generous dining space, entertainment rooms and easy access to pubs, cafes and restaurants in Barmouth.

Inside the house

The house has 9 beautifully presented bedrooms, giving the bride-to-be and her guests plenty of choice when it comes to rooming arrangements. Several superking beds can be converted into twins, which is especially useful for hen groups where not everyone is a couple or close friends. Some rooms enjoy sea or mountain views, adding a boutique hotel feel while still giving you the privacy and freedom of having the whole property to yourselves.

Communal space is where The Belmont really shines. The dining room seats the whole group together, so no one is perched on a sofa or split between rooms during the main celebration meal. It is a lovely setting for a private chef dinner, a grazing table, a themed supper or a relaxed brunch after a night out. The kitchen is well equipped for group catering, with an Aga and an American fridge freezer, giving you the space to prep drinks, breakfast supplies and celebration food with ease.

For downtime, the spacious lounge is made for pre-dinner fizz, catch-ups and games before heading into town. There is also a private cinema room, ideal for a cosy film night, bride quiz, photo slideshow or a calmer evening after a busy day of activities. The games room adds another easy entertainment option, with a pool table and games console for a bit of friendly competition between bridesmaids, friends and family.

With 3 luxury wetrooms plus additional WCs, the house is well set up for larger groups getting ready at the same time. That makes a real difference on a hen weekend, especially when everyone is doing hair, make-up and outfit changes before dinner or drinks.

Hen weekend highlights

The Belmont is a brilliant choice for hens who want the celebration to feel stylish but not overcomplicated. You have the big-ticket ingredients already in place: sea views, beach access, social interiors, entertainment rooms and enough bedrooms for a comfortable group stay.

Plan a Friday arrival with drinks in the lounge and a relaxed games night in the games room. Set up a tournament around the pool table, plug in the games console, or use the cinema room for a favourite film, hen party awards or a surprise video message for the bride. The private cinema is especially useful if your group includes different ages or energy levels, as it gives you a fun night-in option without having to organise transport.

The dining room is a standout for hen weekends. It seats everyone together, so you can host a dress-up dinner, afternoon tea, cocktail-making session or a private chef meal in one sociable space. The kitchen’s generous setup makes self-catering straightforward, whether you are planning a big breakfast, beach picnic supplies or late-night snacks after returning from Barmouth’s pubs.

While the property is not described around a hot tub, spa or garden setup, its seafront position gives you a different kind of outdoor experience. The beach is directly opposite, so sunrise strolls, sea dips, group photos on the sand and dog-friendly walks can all be part of the weekend. For hens who love fresh air as much as fizz, that is a major plus.

The house is also dog friendly, which is a lovely bonus if the bride wants to bring a four-legged guest along for the celebrations.

Location & getting around

The Belmont sits in Barmouth, one of Gwynedd’s best-loved seaside spots, with the beach right across the road and the town’s pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops within walking distance. That means your group can enjoy a car-light weekend once you arrive: wander out for brunch, head to the beach, book dinner locally or go for drinks without complicated logistics.

Barmouth’s sandy beach is ideal for low-key hen activities, from morning paddles to beach games and group photos. The promenade location makes it easy for guests to dip in and out of plans, which is helpful if some want an active day while others prefer a slower start.

For adventure-loving hens, Gwynedd offers plenty beyond the seafront. Snowdonia National Park is a short drive away, opening up options for hiking, cycling, outdoor challenges and scenic days out. You could balance a lively Saturday night with a fresh-air activity during the day, or keep things relaxed with coastal walks, cafe stops and time together back at the house.

The location works well for a hen weekend because it combines a destination feel with practical convenience. You get the drama of the Welsh coast, the character of a seaside town and the freedom of a large private house where the celebration can continue between plans.
