Get your hands deliciously dirty at Muddy Water Pottery, a pottery studio in Skilgate, just outside Taunton on the edge of Exmoor. This is proper, peaceful pottery in a rural Somerset setting.
Sessions here are hands-on and satisfying. there's nothing quite like shaping your own pot and knowing you'll have a handmade keepsake of the hen weekend. The studio keeps weekday hours (Monday to Thursday 10am to 4pm, Friday until 12:30pm), so plan your crafting for a weekday during your stay.

What sessions do you offer?
Our hand-building sessions last two and a half hours (mornings or afternoons) for a maximum of 6 people. Adult classes cost £55, pottery painting is £25, and private parties - birthdays, hen and stag parties or just because - cost £300 per group. I guide you from choosing what to make through to glazing your finished piece, with the kettle always on.
Can we book a hen party?
Yes - hen parties are one of our favourite celebrations, for up to 6 people at £300 per group. Let me know it is a special occasion and I will make it a little bit special - and feel free to bring a bottle of something stronger. Please note we are open weekdays only (closed weekends), so plan your hen session for a weekday.
When can we take our pottery home?
Clay needs to dry and be fired, so your pieces will be ready in about 5-6 weeks. You can come back for a free 40-60 minute glazing session, ask me to glaze for you, or have your pieces posted at Royal Mail rates.
Do we need experience?
None at all - everybody can make something from clay. Your work area is set up when you arrive, aprons are provided, and I will browse examples with you over a cuppa before you start.
Where are you and when are you open?
2 Haddon End Cottages, Skilgate, Taunton TA4 2DE, on the edge of Exmoor, with plenty of parking outside the studio. Sessions run Monday to Thursday (10am-12.30pm and 1.30-4pm) and Friday mornings; we are closed at weekends.

Would give 6 stars if I could! Such a wonderful experience, Bev was a fantastic teacher and despite having no experience with pottery each member of our group made something to be proud of, will be back again for sure!!
